Community & Safety Guidelines
Last updated: 19 August 2026
ClassifiedMalta exists to help real people make real plans and meet safely. These guidelines explain what's expected of every member, how our verification system works, and how to stay safe.
Our verification system, explained
- Browsing is free and open to everyone.
- Tier 1 (Light verification) — confirm your email, confirm your phone number via SMS, and declare you're 18+. Takes under a minute, no documents needed. Required to post in Experiences, Sea & Water, Food & Drinks, and Nightlife.
- Tier 2 (Full verification) — everything in Tier 1, plus a government ID and a selfie match. Required to post in Dating, and grants the ✓ verified badge visible on your profile everywhere.
We verify identity, not intentions. Verification confirms someone is a real, of-age person — it doesn't guarantee behaviour, so always use good judgement.
What's welcome here
- Genuine plans: "coffee on Thursday", "boat trip to Comino this weekend", "hiking crew for Sunday"
- Honesty about who you are, what you're looking for, and your intentions
- Respectful, kind communication — even when declining someone's interest
- Reporting anything that feels off, rather than dealing with it alone
What's not allowed
- Fake profiles or impersonation of any kind
- Harassment, threats, or intimidation — including after someone declines interest or blocks you
- Sexually explicit content or solicitation — ClassifiedMalta is not an adult services platform
- Underage users or content — reported immediately to the relevant authorities
- Scams, financial solicitation, or requests for money/gifts from other members
- Spam or commercial advertising outside the approved "Advertise an Event" flow
- Discriminatory content based on race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, or disability
- Sharing another user's private information (screenshots, personal details) without consent
Violating these guidelines can result in a warning, content removal, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban — see our Terms of Service for the full escalation process.
How to report
Every post, comment, profile, and chat has a Report option. Tell us what happened, and our moderation team reviews every report — usually within a few hours. You can also choose to block the user at the same time, which is instant and doesn't require a report.
Reporting is always available, and reporters are never identified to the person they report.
Blocking
You can block anyone, anytime, from their profile, a post, or a chat. Blocking is immediate, silent (they're never notified), and mutual — you disappear from their view and they disappear from yours, everywhere on the Platform.
Meeting safely — our recommendations
- Meet in public — cafés, restaurants, and our partner venues are ideal for a first meet.
- Tell someone — let a friend or family member know where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Keep chat on ClassifiedMalta until you've met and feel comfortable — this keeps a record and keeps our safety tools active.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
- Use our meeting places — partner cafés, restaurants, and public venues are curated with safety and comfort in mind.
- After you meet, you can leave a review — this builds a trust record that helps the next person.
Anonymous posting
Most categories allow you to post anonymously — your identity stays hidden from other members while you remain fully accountable to our moderation team. This is useful for sensitive plans while keeping the platform safe, since every anonymous poster is still verified behind the scenes.
Reviews and reputation
After meeting someone through ClassifiedMalta, you can leave a review. Reviews are tied to a real, verified interaction (you must have chatted with the person) and help build a trust record across the Platform.
Reporting emergencies
Our reporting system is for platform safety and community standards — it is not a substitute for emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, contact the Malta Police Force at 112 or your local emergency number first.
